The Office of Research and Statistics (ORS) provides statistics on Jails and Corrections. The information and interactive displays ("dashboards") across several criminal justice system categories are described below, including jail capacity, community corrections outcomes, prison population projections, general corrections and prison data, and recidivism (re-offense data). The data underlying each display is available for download.
Jail Data
Displays include the Colorado jail population and bed capacity, data on restrictive housing in jails and compliance with jail bond practices.
Community Corrections
Displays data from residential and therapeutic community (TC) programs, including demographics, length of stay, risk level, and outcomes.
Corrections Data
Displays annual and quarterly correctional populations (across multiple settings), length of prison stay, and crime vs. incarceration rates.
Prison Population Projections
Provides access to annual and mid-year projections of adult prison and parole populations and projections of juvenile detention, commitment, and parole populations.
Recidivism
Displays recidivism percentages for various criminal justice settings. Depending on the display, there are filters by year, sentence type, and/or by age group.
