The Office of Research and Statistics (ORS), pursuant to 24-33.5-518, C.R.S., collects data from county jails regarding facility and inmate statistics and restrictive housing. Links are provided below to report jail data and to report restrictive housing data. The related legislative bills and due dates for reporting are provided below. Documentation on the data collection requirements can be downloaded from HB19-1297 Documentation. If a jail fails to submit a report within thirty days of the due date, the Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Public Safety is mandated to notify the jail that they are not in compliance (17-26-118(4)(c), C.R.S.).

- Background and Due Dates
The Jail Data mandates in 24-33.5-118 and 17-26-118, C.R.S., were derived from the following bills:
House Bill 2019-1297 enacted on May 31, 2019, requires county jails to collect information regarding their facility and inmates and report this information to the Division of Criminal Justice (DCJ) on a quarterly basis. [facility and inmate data]
House Bill 2021-1211 requires jails with bed counts over 400 to report on their use of restrictive housing. [restrictive housing]
Data submissions are due the third Friday of the first month of each quarter (January, April, July, and October).
