OVP: Training

Human Trafficking is a lucrative and thriving enterprise that takes place around the globe and in Colorado. As part of the legislation that created the Colorado Human Trafficking Council, the Colorado General Assembly tasked the Council with the development of training standards and curricula on human trafficking for a wide range of sectors including law enforcement.

In 2016, the Council created its first training programs to help establish a common language and understanding of human trafficking and its impact on Colorado. These interactive programs are designed to provide participants with foundational information on the topic rooted in the Colorado context. In 2019, the Council created an advanced workshop to help service providers navigate providing trauma-informed, survivor-driven direct care. This half-day workshop is rooted in Colorado solutions with regional context.

The Colorado Department of Public Safety (CDPS) is committed to the full inclusion of all individuals. As part of this commitment, CDPS will ensure reasonable accommodations are provided to enable all people to engage fully in our trainings, meetings and events. To request accommodations, please contact Camerron Resener at camerron.resener@state.co.us at least three weeks before the training, meeting, or event. Please make sure to also let us know if you need any of the materials in an alternative format.
