ORS: Driving Under the Influence-Drug Toxicology

ORS: DUI Dashboard Home

Arrests Drug Toxicology  Court Filings  Court Findings  Convictions & Assessments  Sentencing

The Office of Research and Statistics (ORS) offers this dashboard to show trends for screenings, positive results, and polydrug toxicology, or drug testing results that show individuals tested positive for more than one drug. DUI cases that matched with a drug toxicology report are shown in this dashboard. DUI cases without a corresponding toxicology match may reflect suspect testing refusals or limitations with data linking methods used. See the table below for the rates of toxicology matches per year and the toxicology levels in court proceedings.

The Drug Toxicology visualization also displays trends for drug categories based on the Drug Recognition Expert categories and Fatality Analysis Reporting System. See also the Drug Recognition Expert Categories and Schedule of Drugs.

An additional toxicology dashboard is available (see button below) to provide more recent insights about drug and alcohol screening related to suspected impaired drivers. The Office of Research and Statistics in collaboration with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Forensic Services Toxicology Laboratory has analyzed the blood samples law enforcement agencies submit for drug and alcohol screening. The CBI Toxicology Dashboard includes information about the last calendar year, as well individuals who did not have a DUI court case filing. Differences in population and time period mean that the data in the CBI Toxicology Dashboard should not be compared to the Driving Under the Influence: Drug Toxicology Dashboard (below). For additional information on the data methods and limitations of this separate CBI analysis, please see the "Data Notes" page of the CBI Toxicology Dashboard.
